First I was promoted to captain, and the next day I graduated from medical school! Thank you to all my wonderful family who came to Blacksburg for the festivities. It was great to be done with school and even better to get to celebrate it with my favorite people.
Note about my uniform: for those military members keeping score at home, my uniform is a little jacked up. Apparently my suit was tailored by a blind monkey and, according to the polite photographer assigned to take my official Dept. of the Army photo at Fort Lewis, it makes me look fat. For those of you non-military folks, if this official photo makes you look fat, it can prevent you from getting promoted. It's kind of a big deal. Anyway, they didn't notice before I became a captain, suckers!
