Graduation and Promotion Ceremony Pictures

First I was promoted to captain, and the next day I graduated from medical school! Thank you to all my wonderful family who came to Blacksburg for the festivities. It was great to be done with school and even better to get to celebrate it with my favorite people.

Note about my uniform: for those military members keeping score at home, my uniform is a little jacked up.  Apparently my suit was tailored by a blind monkey and, according to the polite photographer assigned to take my official Dept. of the Army photo at Fort Lewis, it makes me look fat.  For those of you non-military folks, if this official photo makes you look fat, it can prevent you from getting promoted.  It's kind of a big deal.  Anyway, they didn't notice before I became a captain, suckers!

PROMOTION CEREMONY: MAY 31, 2013

Molly saying no

Alex and Tish and their wonderful hoard of kids thought that the following Geico commercial was so funny that many went around the daycare wagging their fingers and saying "No, No, No, No" and Molly picked it up along the way.  We first noticed it on the drive out West but only today were able to get it on film.  Enjoy.

Molly at her new home

Molly has discovered many fantastic things at her new home, including a fun matador game with Phil using a purloined dishrag.

Another fantastic discovery is Molly's belly button. Perhaps she thinks it was recently installed, but this week it holds endless wonder. I don't have pictures of it, but there was an entertaining interlude where Molly compared the look and feel of her own belly button to Lisa's. it was hilarious.

Day 8 Was a Long Time Ago....Oooops

Hi Everybody!

You're probably wondering what we've been doing in Coeur d'Alene (according to Katie this means "heart of the awl", meaning sharp-hearted or shrewd, and is a reference to the hard bargains the early traders drove) for the past week and a half. Haha. Joke is on you- we got to Dupont May 22 and unpacked the truck on May 23. We will spare you the pictures of boxes and unpacking, but suffice it to say that the house was a mess and continues to be that way though we are making steady progress every day. I started inprocessing (yes this is a real word) with the Army on Tuesday, which mainly consists of sitting around and filling out paperwork all day.  I get paid for this, so no complaints here. I have a big folder of paperwork that I carry around, and every office I go to needs multiple copies of my orders and my oath and sometimes other documents as well. Yesterday a SGT told me that my hair tie was out of uniform. Whoopsies.

Also, you may be aware that I graduated medical school and was commissioned as a captain in the US Army. We will put up pictures of both of these events this weekend and then we can clear the decks so as to provide continuing coverage of the adventures of the Mollybear.
